A Love Beyond Words

We are all seeking for a love that is perfect, sacrificial, and unconditional. There is a void inside of us, placed inside the Creator Himself, that only He can fill. Nothing else in this world will ever satisfy.

The thing is, that as humans, we keep trying to fill that void with many different things- relationships, careers, success, popularity… the list goes on. This chase ends up becoming an endless-cycle of dissatisfaction. It’s only until we come to the end of all of it, the end of ourselves, that we finally surrender to our Creator.

“He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also He has put eternity in their hearts, except that no one can find out the work that God does from beginning to end.”

Ecclesiastes 3:11

This past month, I was able to get yet another glimpse into the culture itself. Many of the Japanese might ask themselves questions about life, their purpose, and what happens after death.

However, they’re not able to process these questions because of the sense of there being an attachment to a unit, their family, and that cannot be broken or changed. You simply go along with what you’ve been taught and you keep doing that for years.

You don’t question it, you just do it. But when is it enough?

Just like you, like me, nothing else will ever satisfy the Japanese either. Even perfection or being a good person isn’t enough. The reality is- it is unattainable in our own strength. It is impossible. But yet we try and try and try.

Sadly enough, here in Japan, some completely give up and take their own lives as a result of the weight of the chase. Just like all of us, they too need a Savior. They need to encounter the God who loves them unconditionally.

This is exactly what happened to Mayumi.

For the past three months, I have had the blessing to teach the book of Ecclesiastes with a group of Japanese women. Up to this point my friend’s mom, Mayumi, had heard a couple of testimonies about God’s love, faithfulness, and goodness. She had read about this emptiness that’s inside all of us and how no matter what we try to fill it with it will never satisfy. But she had yet to experience the love the Father has for her.

However, this last time was different. The week leading up to the study, God said, “it’s time. It’s time she knows about Me.” I wasn’t sure exactly how it was going to work- in my head I had my own plan and understanding of how I could share the Good News with her. But I knew that God was already working it all out. I knew that no matter what I said, He was going to show up.

After the many exchanges of words, confessions, and tears, the love of the Father was shared with Mayumi. During prayer, His love was poured out upon her.

Truly, the love of God the Father is a love that we all desire. From my own experience, it was one that completely changed my life.

I pray everyone, not just the Japanese, experience this kind of love.

A love beyond words.

Thank you family for your love, your support, and your prayers!

May He fill you with His love today.

May that love overflow unto those around you.

For His glory,

-Mayra Alejandra
